Updated 2008 Holiday Shutdown

Announcement Regarding December 26, 2008

President Bush has declared December 26th as a Federal Holiday. In observance of this Federal Holiday, Governor Heineman has declared that all Nebraska State Offices observe December 26th as a State Holiday. Accordingly President Milliken has authorized University of Nebraska employees who are eligible for holiday leave be granted the 26th of December as a day of "Administrative Leave". Most UNL employees had planned to use a floating holiday for December 26 and take December 31, 2008 as a day of vacation. Due to this additional Federal Holiday, UNL will post an administrative leave day for December 26, 2008 and move the floating holiday to December 31, 2008 so employees do not need to take a vacation day for that day of the UNL holiday closedown.
