Performance management is a partnership between an employee and their supervisor to optimize performance, build effective feedback and communication, enhance employee growth and development, and develop goals that are consistent with department/college strategic plans.
Begin by understanding NU Values, the compensation and performance management system covering the M/P and O/S employees of the University of Nebraska. NU Values enhances creativity, decision-making and flexibility in career management for both the supervisor and the employee.
Performance Engagement is a part of the NU Values evaluation process. It begins with you working with your employees to set goals and expectations for performance that connects the job to department and the university's mission. The performance engagement process is designed to:
- provide employees with clear understanding of their supervisor's expectations of them;
- continues with ongoing coaching and feedback (both constructive and positive);
- and includes documentation for accurate recall.
