The University of Nebraska–Lincoln is the state’s best education-based employer and one of the best overall, according to a newly published list compiled by Forbes and Statista.

Announced Aug. 24, the America’s Best Employers by State list ranks the University of Nebraska–Lincoln No. 4 among companies headquartered within the Cornhusker State. It places the university in the same category as some of the most prestigious and well-established private companies in Nebraska, including Mutual of Omaha, Kiewit and Methodist Health System.

The University of Nebraska System is pleased to announce changes to the University of Nebraska Retirement Plans. These changes will offer you increased flexibility and greater convenience when managing your retirement plan accounts at Fidelity and/or TIAA.

You can review the important information below regarding the upcoming changes. Please note, there will be no changes to the 401(a) Basic Plan retirement contribution rates, and you will continue to be 100% vested in those contributions.

We are now offering workshops to create your professional development plan. As a part of the N2025 Strategic Plan, the sixth aim is "Prioritize participation and professional development for all Nebraska students, staff, and faculty." A part of the strategy is to ensure a means for all faculty, graduate and professional students, post-doctoral fellows, and staff to co-create an individualized professional development roadmap.

Effective this year, the University of Nebraska system will observe Juneteenth as a floating holiday. The university will be open June 20 and the annual winter closedown will be extended by one day. Eligible employees wishing to take June 20 off may do so using the regular leave process.

Juneteenth, which is June 19, commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. It was declared a federal holiday in 2021 by President Joe Biden.

The Employee Assistance Program will continue to offer a professional development group for faculty and staff. The next session will be offered via Zoom at noon, Jan. 20.

The group is focused on sharing key ways to bring your best self to work. Topics vary from effective communication skills, professional boundaries, time and energy management, dealing with change and cultivating resilience. Each session is offered at noon on the third Thursday of the month.

The January session will explore positive coping strategies fo ;stress.

The 2021 W-2 Wage and Tax Statement is now available via Firefly. 

Employees must be enrolled to receive the W-2 forms via the online service. Opting for electronic delivery allows employees to have early access to forms in mid-January and the ability to review W-2 forms from previous years. It also reduce printing and postage costs for the university. The enrollment process, available here, is quick and easy. Enrolling will automatically provide access to all future W-2 forms online.
