The University of Nebraska System is pleased to announce changes to the University of Nebraska Retirement Plans. These changes will offer you increased flexibility and greater convenience when managing your retirement plan accounts at Fidelity and/or TIAA.

You can review the important information below regarding the upcoming changes. Please note, there will be no changes to the 401(a) Basic Plan retirement contribution rates, and you will continue to be 100% vested in those contributions.

Effective this year, the University of Nebraska system will observe Juneteenth as a floating holiday. The university will be open June 20 and the annual winter closedown will be extended by one day. Eligible employees wishing to take June 20 off may do so using the regular leave process.

Juneteenth, which is June 19, commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. It was declared a federal holiday in 2021 by President Joe Biden.

For the past eight months, a university-wide committee has been carefully reviewing our retirement program to identify improvements to help you achieve your retirement planning goals.

The Employee Assistance Program will continue to offer a professional development group for faculty and staff. The next session will be offered via Zoom at noon, Jan. 20.

The group is focused on sharing key ways to bring your best self to work. Topics vary from effective communication skills, professional boundaries, time and energy management, dealing with change and cultivating resilience. Each session is offered at noon on the third Thursday of the month.

The January session will explore positive coping strategies fo ;stress.
